Under the law relating to the right to information, every public authority is required to designate officers who shall receive requests from citizens and provide the information sought, subject to the exemptions recognised by the statute. A request may be made in writing or through electronic means, and the applicant is not required to give any reason for seeking the information. The officer concerned shall dispose of the request within the period prescribed, either by furnishing the information on payment of the applicable fee or by rejecting it for reasons to be recorded in writing. Where the information sought concerns the life or liberty of a person, the period for response is considerably shorter. If the request pertains to a subject matter more closely connected with another public authority, it shall be transferred to that authority and the applicant shall be informed of such transfer without delay. An order of rejection must state the provision under which the request has been declined, the period within which an appeal may be preferred and the particulars of the appellate authority. Failure to respond within the stipulated time may be treated as a deemed refusal, entitling the applicant to approach the first appellate authority. The appellate authority, after giving the parties an opportunity of being heard, may direct disclosure, uphold the refusal or pass such other order as it considers appropriate. Officers are therefore expected to maintain proper records of every request received, the action taken thereon and the date of communication to the applicant. Delay in the disposal of civil suits is frequently attributed to the routine grant of adjournments. The procedural law permits the court to adjourn the hearing of a suit from time to time if sufficient cause is shown, but it also places limits on how often this may be done. Ordinarily, not more than three adjournments are to be granted to a party during the hearing of a suit, and the court is required to record its reasons whenever an adjournment is allowed. Where an adjournment is sought at the instance of a party, the court may direct …

Recruitment to the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow Bench is among the most sought-after court jobs in Uttar Pradesh. For Junior Assistant and similar ministerial posts, shortlisted candidates take a computer typing test in which Hindi typing carries the most weight. A Hindi speed of around 25 words per minute and an English speed of around 30 are the figures usually mentioned. The passages come from the everyday language of the courts, which is why legal vocabulary is the focus of this page.

Court Hindi is its own vocabulary

Orders and notices of the High Court use words such as याचिका, याची, विपक्षी, प्रत्युत्तर, निस्तारण, अधिवक्ता and आदेशित that rarely appear in general Hindi passages. Each contains conjuncts or matras that slow a typist down until the word becomes automatic. The legal passages on this page are written in that register so the real test feels familiar.

Many Uttar Pradesh typists learned on Kruti Dev in typing institutes. All three common layouts are available here: Kruti Dev, Remington Gail and InScript. Check which ones the exam software offers before you commit to one.

Sliding marks, not just pass or fail

Court typing tests often award marks according to speed and deduct for errors, rather than using a simple pass mark. That means every extra word per minute can matter. Watch your net speed rather than your gross speed: a typist who slows down slightly and makes no errors often scores more than one who rushes.

How to use this page

  • Start in Hindi with your layout, on the legal passages.
  • Use the 10-minute setting for mock tests and the 2-minute setting for warm-ups.
  • Switch to English if your advertisement asks for both languages.

Tips to pass the Allahabad HC typing test

  • List the court words you mistype and drill them as a short passage.
  • Practise case numbers and dates, such as Writ Petition No. 1234 of 2024.
  • In Kruti Dev, practise the reph (Z) on words like कार्य, अर्जी and निर्णय.
  • Keep accuracy above 95 percent; errors cost more than slow speed in marks-based tests.
  • Take a full mock test the evening before the exam, then rest.
