Why practise one-minute Hindi tests
Hindi words take more keystrokes than English ones, so a slow first word costs more. Short sprints help you practise beginning smoothly, especially words that start with ि in Remington layouts.
Hindi speed targets
Exams usually ask for 25–30 WPM in Hindi over ten minutes. Aim for 35+ WPM in a one-minute sprint before relying on that speed in a long test.
Frequently asked questions
Is one minute enough to measure typing speed?+
It gives a quick estimate, but speed usually drops over longer tests. Use 5- and 10-minute tests to check your exam-ready speed.
Why is my 1-minute speed higher than my 10-minute speed?+
Fatigue and loss of concentration lower speed in long tests. The gap shrinks with regular long practice.
How is WPM calculated?+
Characters typed (including spaces) divided by five, divided by the minutes taken. Net WPM also subtracts uncorrected errors.
