Madhya Pradesh Police recruits Assistant Sub-Inspectors for clerical and stenography work through the state's Employees Selection Board. Alongside the written test and physical standards, candidates take a skill test on computer in which Hindi typing is central. Because Madhya Pradesh uses Unicode Hindi through CPCT, typing is done on InScript or Remington Gail. Longer tests are common in this recruitment, so stamina matters.

Police clerical work in MP

ASI (Clerk) staff maintain station and office records, prepare correspondence and handle establishment matters. Passages are administrative Hindi with police vocabulary such as थाना, आरक्षक, उपनिरीक्षक, विवेचना and प्रतिवेदन.

Some posts may also ask for a CPCT score. If you already hold one, your practice carries over directly.

Build stamina

Skill tests for some MP Police posts have been longer than the usual ten minutes. This page defaults to fifteen minutes. If you can hold your speed for fifteen minutes, try the 30-minute marathon occasionally so the real test feels comfortable.

Practice plan

  • Daily 15-minute Hindi test.
  • Two English tests a week if needed.
  • One 30-minute marathon each week for stamina.

If you are new to Hindi typing

Candidates who have never typed Hindi should start with InScript, the Indian standard layout, because it follows the order in which words are pronounced. Begin with the Hindi home row lesson, then the matras and half letters lessons on this site, before moving to timed tests. Expect two to three weeks of daily practice before you can type Hindi comfortably without looking at the keyboard, and another few weeks to reach exam speed. Starting early makes the difference.

Tips to pass the MP Police ASI typing test

  • Use the same layout you use for CPCT.
  • Practise police vocabulary from your error list.
  • Keep accuracy above 95 percent.
  • Do not let physical training replace typing practice.
  • Check the layout on the exam computer before starting.
  • If you hold a CPCT scorecard, keep practising on the same layout and in the same 15-minute format you used for CPCT.
