The Patna High Court recruits assistants and other ministerial staff for itself and, through separate advertisements, clerks and typists for civil courts across Bihar. Computer typing tests are a regular part of these recruitments, and in Bihar both Hindi and English typing are common. Because court staff work with orders, petitions and registers all day, the typing passages are drawn from that kind of text.

Hindi and English in Bihar courts
The working language in Bihar's subordinate courts is largely Hindi, while the High Court uses a great deal of English. Advertisements therefore often test both. Practise your weaker language more, because a shortfall in either test can cost you the post.
Kruti Dev has long been used in Bihar offices, but many recent computer based tests use Unicode. This page lets you practise all three layouts so you can match whatever your notice specifies.
Words to master
Bihar court Hindi includes words like वाद, अभियुक्त, परिवादी, जमानत, व्यवहार न्यायालय and निर्गत. English passages include petitioner, opposite party, learned counsel and order sheet. Typing these smoothly is the quickest way to gain speed in a court test.
Practice plan
- Week 1–2: layout drills and 2-minute tests.
- Week 3: 10-minute legal passages in your main language.
- Week 4: alternate Hindi and English mock tests on the same day.
English legal terms to practise
High Court passages in English often include phrases such as learned counsel for the petitioner, the instant writ application, the impugned order, the opposite parties and in the facts and circumstances of the case. These phrases are long, repeat often and include capitals and commas. Typing them as complete phrases, rather than word by word, helps your fingers learn the rhythm. Add any phrase you stumble over to your personal drill list.
Tips to pass the Patna HC typing test
- Write down legal words you mistype and drill them as their own passage.
- Practise with backspace off at least once a week.
- Keep accuracy above 95 percent before pushing speed.
- If both languages are tested, never skip practice in your weaker one.
- On exam day, check the selected layout before the timer starts.
