Under the law relating to the right to information, every public authority is required to designate officers who shall receive requests from citizens and provide the information sought, subject to the exemptions recognised by the statute. A request may be made in writing or through electronic means, and the applicant is not required to give any reason for seeking the information. The officer concerned shall dispose of the request within the period prescribed, either by furnishing the information on payment of the applicable fee or by rejecting it for reasons to be recorded in writing. Where the information sought concerns the life or liberty of a person, the period for response is considerably shorter. If the request pertains to a subject matter more closely connected with another public authority, it shall be transferred to that authority and the applicant shall be informed of such transfer without delay. An order of rejection must state the provision under which the request has been declined, the period within which an appeal may be preferred and the particulars of the appellate authority. Failure to respond within the stipulated time may be treated as a deemed refusal, entitling the applicant to approach the first appellate authority. The appellate authority, after giving the parties an opportunity of being heard, may direct disclosure, uphold the refusal or pass such other order as it considers appropriate. Officers are therefore expected to maintain proper records of every request received, the action taken thereon and the date of communication to the applicant. Delay in the disposal of civil suits is frequently attributed to the routine grant of adjournments. The procedural law permits the court to adjourn the hearing of a suit from time to time if sufficient cause is shown, but it also places limits on how often this may be done. Ordinarily, not more than three adjournments are to be granted to a party during the hearing of a suit, and the court is required to record its reasons whenever an adjournment is allowed. Where an adjournment is sought at the instance of a party, the court may direct …

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh recruits typists, copyists and assistants for itself and for district courts across the state. For typist and copyist posts, the English typing test is the heart of the selection, and the required speed is usually higher than for general clerical posts. A typist in a court produces orders and certified copies all day, so the test looks for sustained speed with very few errors.

Typist posts need more speed

Where a clerical post may ask for 30 or 35 words per minute, typist posts often expect more. This page uses 40 WPM as a practice target; check your advertisement for the exact standard and any marks scheme.

Copyist posts involve copying documents exactly, so accuracy with punctuation, capitals and numbers is critical.

Typing certified copies

Court copies must match the original word for word. Our checker marks capitalisation and punctuation differences as half mistakes and spacing errors separately, so you can see exactly where your copy would differ from the original.

Practice routine

  • Daily ten-minute legal passage.
  • Twice a week, a fifteen-minute test for stamina.
  • Review the error analysis and fix one habit at a time.

Building speed beyond 40 WPM

Moving from clerical speed to typist speed is mostly about removing hesitation. Most typists lose time on a small set of letter combinations and long words rather than on every word. Use the error analysis and the live highlighting to spot where you pause, then drill those words and phrases separately. Short one- and two-minute sprints at a slightly uncomfortable pace, followed by a full ten-minute test at a steady pace, are an effective combination.

Tips to pass the AP HC typing test

  • Practise exact copying: every comma and capital counts.
  • Build to at least 45 WPM in practice for typist posts.
  • Use backspace-off mode to train careful typing.
  • Practise case numbers and dates in court format.
  • Keep wrists relaxed during long sessions.
