It has been observed that several files received in this section during the last quarter were kept pending for long periods without any recorded reason. In order to ensure timely disposal of work, all officers and staff are requested to follow the instructions given below with immediate effect. Every file received in the section shall be entered in the file movement register on the same day, and a receipt number shall be noted on the cover. Dealing assistants shall put up the file with a brief note within three working days, clearly stating the issue, the relevant rules and the action proposed. Where comments are required from another section, a reminder shall be sent if no reply is received within seven days. Section officers shall review the pending files every Friday and bring cases older than fifteen days to the notice of the under secretary. Files containing court cases, parliamentary questions or complaints from the public shall be marked as urgent and given priority. No file shall be taken out of the office premises without written permission. On transfer or retirement, an employee shall hand over all files in his or her charge along with a list showing their present status. The administration section will conduct a surprise check at the end of each month and report the findings to the head of the department. All concerned are requested to note these instructions carefully and ensure strict compliance. Every employee is entitled to different kinds of leave, and it is useful to know how to apply for each of them correctly. The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board fills clerical posts in departments of the Government of Delhi, its local bodies and autonomous organisations. For posts such as Lower Division Clerk and Junior Assistant, candidates who qualify in the written examination take a skill test on computer. The standard commonly mentioned mirrors central government recruitment: 35 words per minute in English or 30 in Hindi, which the board may express as key depressions per hour.

Posts: Lower Division Clerk, Junior Assistant, Junior Stenographer (typing component).

Same standard as central clerical posts

Because the speeds match the SSC CHSL typing test, preparation for one helps with the other. Many Delhi aspirants sit both exams, and a single practice routine on 10-minute office passages covers both.

The skill test is qualifying. Your selection depends on clearing it, but your rank comes from the written examination.

KDPH explained

Key depressions per hour measure how many keys you press correctly in an hour. Thirty-five words per minute equals 10,500 KDPH and thirty words per minute equals 9,000 KDPH, using five keystrokes per word. The result card on this page shows KDPH alongside WPM, so you can compare directly with whatever unit your notice uses.

Get ready

  • Practise office and notice-style passages; Delhi government work is heavy on circulars and orders.
  • Hindi candidates should practise Unicode layouts rather than Kruti Dev.
  • Do full 10-minute tests to build stamina.

Typing on the exam computer

Exam centres use standard desktop keyboards, which feel different from laptop keyboards. If you practise mainly on a laptop, try to use an external keyboard for at least some sessions. Before the test begins, adjust the chair so your forearms are level with the keyboard and check that Caps Lock is off. If the passage appears in a small font, lean back slightly rather than hunching forward; good posture helps you keep your speed steady for the full ten minutes.

Tips to pass the DSSSB typing test

  • Aim for 40 WPM English or 33 WPM Hindi in practice to leave a safety margin.
  • Practise office words such as directorate, sanction, reimbursement and procurement.
  • Turn on blind mode to get used to typing without colour feedback.
  • Use the same keyboard position and chair height each time you practise.
  • Track your progress page; aim for steady weekly gains.
