A data-heavy job

Provident fund work involves member names, account numbers, dates of joining and leaving, and amounts. While the typing test uses a passage rather than forms, practising with numbers and names makes the real job, and the test, much easier.

The typing test is qualifying. Your final rank comes from the written examination.

WPM and KDPH

Notices may express the speed in key depressions per hour. 35 WPM equals 10,500 KDPH and 30 WPM equals 9,000 KDPH. The result card here shows both, so you always know where you stand.

Weekly routine

  • Five 10-minute office passages per week.
  • Two GK passages per week to revise for the written test.
  • One blind-mode test per week.

From written test to typing test

The gap between the written result and the skill test can be short, so do not wait for the result before you start typing practice. Begin as soon as you finish the written examination, with short daily sessions that build up to full ten-minute tests. Use the progress page to track your net speed and accuracy over time. If you are below the required speed two weeks before the skill test, focus entirely on accuracy for a few days; it usually brings net speed up faster than trying to type faster.

Tips to pass the EPFO SSA typing test

  • Aim for 40 WPM English or 33 WPM Hindi in practice.
  • Practise typing figures, such as amounts and account numbers, without looking down.
  • Keep your error count low; net speed falls quickly with errors.
  • Use the same keyboard and chair setup each time.
  • Track your progress and aim for steady weekly gains.
