Head Constable (Ministerial) posts in Delhi Police are filled through an examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. Along with the computer based test and physical tests, candidates take a computer typing test. The standard commonly quoted is 30 words per minute in English or 25 in Hindi. Ministerial staff in Delhi Police handle records, establishment matters and correspondence, so typing is a core part of the job.

Police office typing

Ministerial work in Delhi Police includes duty records, leave and pay matters, and letters to other offices. Typing passages for such posts are administrative. Practise office passages and keep your accuracy high; errors reduce net speed quickly.

The typing test is qualifying, and your rank depends on the computer based test.

Fitting typing around physical preparation

Physical tests take time and energy. Keep a short daily typing routine of ten to fifteen minutes throughout your preparation so the typing test is never a last-minute worry.

Targets

  • English: 30 WPM, about 9,000 KDPH.
  • Hindi: 25 WPM, about 7,500 KDPH.
  • Aim at least 5 WPM above in practice.

How the selection stages fit together

The recruitment usually begins with a computer based test, followed by physical endurance and measurement tests, and then the typing test on computer, along with document verification and a medical examination. Candidates who neglect typing until after the physical tests often find themselves short of time. Ten to fifteen minutes of daily practice from the start of your preparation is enough to reach and hold the required speed. Use the progress page to check that your speed keeps rising week by week, and take a full ten-minute mock test at least twice a week once the physical tests are announced.

Tips to pass the Delhi Police HCM typing test

  • Practise daily, even during physical training weeks.
  • Aim for 35 WPM English or 30 WPM Hindi in practice.
  • Keep accuracy above 95 percent.
  • Use blind mode once a week.
  • Rest your hands before the typing test.
  • Use the Hindi or English setting you chose in your application form, and practise only that language in the final month.
