Banaras Hindu University, one of the largest residential universities in Asia, recruits Junior Clerks for its faculties, institutes and administrative offices. Selection includes a written test and a typing test on computer. Speeds around 30 words per minute in English and 25 in Hindi are commonly mentioned for such posts, though the exact standard is set in each advertisement. Clerks at a university type admission notices, examination schedules, fee circulars and correspondence with departments. Passages are generally administrative, with dates, course names and numbers. Our office passages and GK passages are good preparation.

Hindi typing at BHU
Hindi is widely used in BHU administration. If you choose Hindi, practise in Unicode on InScript or Remington Gail. Candidates who learned Kruti Dev can switch to Remington Gail, which uses the same key positions.

Planning your preparation
University recruitments often take months from advertisement to skill test, which gives you time to build speed gradually. In the first month, focus on correct finger placement and accuracy with the lessons on this site. In the second month, move to five-minute and ten-minute tests in your chosen language. In the final weeks, take a full mock test every other day and use the progress page to confirm that your net speed is stable above the requirement. Steady weekly improvement is a better sign of readiness than a single fast result.
Tips to pass the BHU Clerk typing test
Aim for at least 5 WPM above the required speed.
Practise dates and course names with capital letters.
Keep accuracy above 95 percent.
Do not switch Hindi layouts close to the test.
Rest your hands between long tests.
Take one full mock test in the same week as the exam, at the same time of day as your scheduled test, so your body and mind are used to typing at that hour.
